But all of a sudden, his son agreed to this requirement where he had to dam the river and build a boat before it arrived in the morning. The work done by Sangkuriang was completed quickly as a jinn was helped.

Dayang Sumbi who watched it prepared his brain to do a way to stop the task from being completed. So he pulled out a silk cloth so that it looked like a morning, a situation that caused the chicken to crow because he thought it had arrived in the morning.

But at that time Sangkuriang had not completed his work so he was angry as his proposal was rejected by his own mother. So he vented his anger by kicking the boat he had built. The boat was eventually turned down so that it became a mountain currently known as Tangkuban Perahu.

Origin Story from The City of Bandang

Another folklore in West Java is about the origin of the city of Bandung.  The story begins with a rivalry between Jaka and Vaira who are a college student. Where the nature of both is opposite to each other but complement each other so that they are like brothers.

However, the quarrels began to take place when they liked the same woman, Sekar, who was their teacher’s daughter. Jaka, whose face is handsome, finally asks for Sekar but  without  P  . Uttari’s  consent his father accepts the proposal.

But actually Sekar liked Vaira so to subtly reject the proposal he held a contest where he would marry a man who could extinguish the lava of the Tangkuban boat. Eventually, Jaka and Vira found a way to win the competition but Jaka was actually unable to do so.

But he agreed to this but instead of finding a way to extinguish the lava after walking away, he kept playing around. However, this is different from what Vira did where he did several ways to be able to extinguish the lava. It wasn’t until he finally saw the beaver that pulled the dam out of the wood.

This eventually gave him a way to extinguish the lava. By the end, Vira breached the hill and closed the Sitaram river so that it could block the river’s water until it was finally able to extinguish the lava on the Mount Tangkuban boat.

So that in the end it turned the basin into a lake. Finally, Vaira and Sekar finally got married and had children. However, many years later, the dam that was built collapsed due to excessive discharge of water so that the lake’s water dried up.

As a result, a terrain appeared that contained loose soil that forced many people to move to the new place. By the end the new place became the city of Bandhung whose name was derived from the dam or weir. It is  the folklore of West Java  that not many people still know about.

 Folklore about Lutung Kasrung

The  folklore  of West Java  which is no less interesting is about Lutung Kasrung which tells the story of a princess named Purbasari who meets an Antong who is a prince who is cursed to be a monkey. Putri Purbasari was thrown away by her brother himself for use so that it seemed to be affected by a skin disease.

  1. Erita West Javanese people Lutung Kasrung. It was because of his illness that he was thrown into the forest so that he met Langur. Langur, who truly loved the ancients, finally prayed to the Almighty to see a lake whose water could cure the  skin disease of  The  Pee Uttari.

Then  after her skin disease  was cured, P. Uttari was finally taken back to the palace but the princess’s elder brother, whose name is Purbarang, became jealous and feared that his power would be taken back by Purbassery. Finally, the elder brother asked the king to organize a race, called fast cooking and hair length competition.

In both races, the younger brother became the winner so in the end the elder brother asked the king to create a new race to determine who the winner was. The race is about who the better looking partner is.

By the end Purbasari brought a langur and introduced him as his companion but his brother made fun of him as his partner was a monkey. As a result of heartache, he finally prayed to the Almighty to restore his form to its original state and then be accepted.

At the end of  this  Western Javanese folklore, Purbasari became the conqueror so that he became entitled to become  a  royal dreamer and his brother P. Urbrang was not subject to punishment, although he was proven guilty and defeated.

 Folktales  about Nini Reef

Another  Western Javanese folk-tale  is no less interesting about The Nini Reef where the story begins with an old couple whose names can be full of children. To meet the daily needs, the husband will go to sea and in the morning go home with the catch that will be automatically eaten or sold.

But one day the husband was allowed to go to the sea but by morning the husband had not returned home. When the wife also panicked, she along with other villagers went looking for her husband. But one day the wife who finally gave up prayed to the Almighty to be reunited by the Almighty.

But suddenly a rock appeared, in which someone said that the stone is the form of the husband. The shocked wife finally prayed to the Almighty to turn into a rock like her husband.

Of course, the two stones are located next to each other, which can still be seen on The Nini Coral Beach.
